GRACEVILLE, FL -- There's an exciting new neighborhood emerging from the Shepherd's Cottages at The Baptist College of Florida. Three of the six cottages available for retired ministers located next to the beautiful backdrop of Heritage Village have been filled with lifelong memories and inspirational stories of faith, family and ministry. The freshly painted walls of the Shepherd's Cottages now hold pictorial evidence documenting the journey of these men and women who have been faithful to God's call on their lives. The students at BCF have marveled at the amazing testimonies of these retirees and prayed that they would also be found faithful to the ministry to which God has called them.

Dr. Thomas A. Kinchen, President of The Baptist College of Florida has stated on more than one occasion that "too many individuals have served our Lord and His church only to come to the last years of their lives with no suitable place to live and less than a subsistence income." With that deep burden, the Shepherd's Cottages were designed specifically to meet the growing need among retired ministers for affordable living accommodations. In essence, it is a warm place they can call home and still be as active in ministry as they are able. Each cottage is an individual residence with front row seats to all of the college activities. If you stroll down BUDD Way or Shepherds Way, as they are so appropriately named, you will find the Root, Woodruff and Bateman families currently living in the cottages. They are often seen visiting with students or taking advantage of the college activities. During the regular school term, the retirees join the staff and faculty of BCF for worship services offered three times a week in the R. G. Lee Chapel as well as many of the other special events and programs available. "The faithful servants who live here will be a blessing as they serve as mentors and encouragement to so many individuals who are preparing for lifetime Christian service," Dr. Kinchen added.
