THE ONE AND ONEY

January is a month of change. It brings about a new year, accompanied by new years resolutions. It brings about a holiday that marks a drastic change brought about in American culture with the celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. For The Baptist College of Florida (BCF), January has brought about a change in the presidency, facilities, culture, and most recently the marketing team. One of the newest additions to that team is someone that the BCF family is familiar with, the one and only Dr. Chantel Oney, who has been a part of the BCF family for over 13 years as a consistent contributor to the culture of the college.

Anyone who has had the privilege to know her is well aware that she is always looking to advance the Kingdom of God, motivate those under her leadership to excel, and have a good time while she’s at it. If you don’t believe us then just ask anyone whose been around her on the dance floor at a wedding, on the court with her during a Preview Day basketball game, or in one of her Business Leadership courses. But for those of you who have not had the chance to get to know Dr. Oney, check this out! A graduate of The Baptist College of Florida with a degree in Business Leadership, she also holds a Master’s of Business Administration and a Doctor of Business Administration from Saint Leo University, focusing on transformational leadership, workplace spirituality, and employee performance. An avid Whitney Houston fan, you better watch out if anyone plays “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”, “Queen of the Night”, or “I Will Always Love You” because she will go into full karaoke mode with no shame at all, because in her own words Whitney Houston is “Still the GOAT!” And if you thought that was all then you thought wrong. Dr. Oney is not only academically credible and down for a good time, she is also certified in the kitchen. With her grandmother’s cast iron skillet in hand she is ready to whip up some comfort food like old-fashioned buttermilk cornbread or fried chicken in a moment’s notice.

For Dr. Oney it all comes back to family. Whether it is at home with her husband James and her four boys: Caleb, Israel, Joel, and Timothy, or at church as she comes alongside James who pastor’s Liberty Baptist Church in Fayetteville, GA, Dr. Oney works hard to steward the relationships that Christ has given her so that she can advance His kingdom. And when it comes to her love for The Baptist College of Florida Dr. Oney had one thing to say: “When it is all said and done, I love the fact that BCF just feels like family, meaning that we do things that a family does. We celebrate together. We grieve together. We do the hard stuff together.” And as we press on into the days ahead we look forward to living out what it means to be family. So, join us in welcoming our new Director of Marketing, the one and only Dr. Chantel Oney!
