When the Board of Trustees of The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) met in Graceville on January 25, they had a full agenda of business as well as a time of fellowship. The first order of business was that of welcoming three new members to the Board of Trustees: Dr. Melodee Davis of Avon Park and a BCF alum began her first term of service. Also joining the board were Don McLaughlin of Tallahassee and Glynn Rogers of Deland. BCF President Thomas A. Kinchen noted, “We are delighted to have these fine folks join us in the exciting work that God is doing here.”
Leading the Board of Trustees as officers in the new year are: Marvin Pittman of Bartow as Chairman, Calvin Carr of Gainesville as Vice Chairman, Shelly Chandler of Bonifay as Secretary, and Tim Maynard of Fruit Cove as Immediate Past Chairman. This is the second year in office for each of these men.
Since the BCF President recently announced his retirement from the office that he has held for 32 years, a top business priority was the naming of a Presidential Search Committee. The Bylaws of the college require that a five-member search committee from the board membership be selected by the trustees. Selected members of the Presidential Search Committee are: R.C. Mills of Ponte Vedra, Chris Coram of Jacksonville, Melodee Davis of Avon Park, Al Guettler of Chipley, and Otto Fernandez of Miami.
Such an exciting time in the life of The Baptist College of Florida as the focus continues to be on training and equipping the next greatest generation of Christian leaders for whatever God has called them to do.
