The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) students and alumni gathered around the Daniel Plaza Gazebo as BCF President Thomas A. Kinchen and First Lady Ruth Ann were honored on Wednesday, November 9. Many memories were relived and words of appreciation were shared as each person waited their turn in line to speak to the Kinchen’s, congratulating them on their upcoming retirement.
For over 32 ½ years, Kinchen has faithfully served as President of The Baptist College of Florida in Graceville, a place they not only call home but made their home. A story that only God could weave, Kinchen arrived in Graceville in 1990 to be the sixth president of the Baptist Bible Institute (BBI). After several name changes, academic excellence in curriculum changes, expanded boundaries, and leaving a legacy of a man committed to training the next greatest generation of Christian leaders, Kinchen will officially retire at the end of December, 2022.
The event held on campus November 9, was just the beginning of special events planned in honor of Dr. Kinchen and Mrs. Ruth Ann. As they have led, lives have been changed, miracles have been recognized, doors have been opened, and at every turn, both good and bad, they have reflected the story of redemption within the community, convention, and higher education.
