The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) First Lady Ruth Ann Kinchen recently hosted the annual Faculty Wives Scholarship Auction raising close to $4,000.00 for student wives who would otherwise not be able to attend classes without the financial support. Because of COVID, the event had been postponed the last few years until the faculty could safely come together and enjoy each other’s company. BCF President Thomas A. Kinchen served as the auctioneer and most items sold for a “sweet” amount taking into consideration that all of the funds raised would be used for scholarships.
Not only is the event an extremely worthy cause, the faculty always enjoy the time of competitive fun and fellowship. Mrs. Ruth Ann added to the delightful evening by providing some incredible goodies such as her fifteen-layer chocolate cake, a pot of homemade chili, and many other edibles that warmed the heart and sweetened the bid.
Mindful of the First Lady’s heart for helping students that need tuition assistance, there was a signup sheet for the upcoming Holiday Heritage Festival scheduled for November 18, where the faculty and staff provide chili and hot dogs during the event to raise money for scholarships. All of the money donated for the food items goes directly into the student wives scholarship fund.
