The Music and Worship Division at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville, hosted a Fall Music Symposium on October 4, in the R.G. Lee Chapel featuring Jon Tyner, Minister of Music at Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola, Fla.
According to event coordinators, about 30 people attended the symposium including members from the local community, BCF alumni, and current students. Music and Worship Division Assistant Renee McKinney stated, “The symposium seemed to be a hit with both students and area worship pastors. They learned new concepts along with concepts that all worship pastors need to be reminded of from time to time.”
During the symposium, participants went over team building skills, spiritual development, worship team leadership, sound and click track/multi track training, coordinating rhythm sections, rehearsing vocals, and putting all that together with tech teams. Tyner not only instructed the different training sessions but also led worship during chapel on Monday working with the BCF Ensemble One Voice in a congregational time of praise and worship.
BCF prepares students for vocations as worship leaders, teachers, counselors, pastors, children and youth ministers, business owners, missionaries, and equips them to succeed in the marketplace. Providing educational symposiums and workshops like this one adds another tool to the toolbox for BCF students to use in their profession.
