Two graduates from The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville are putting their education and training into kingdom work within the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. BCF Graduate Todd Unzicker recently became the state convention’s executive director-treasurer in May during a special called meeting of the state convention. Along with Unzicker, BCF Graduate Zeb Cook was elected vice president of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina's board of directors in a role that begins in January 2022.
Unzicker has been married to his wife, Ashley, since 2007, and they have three children. Currently living in Wake Forest, Unzicker is a native of Fairfax, Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C. Unzicker graduated with honors from The Baptist College of Florida in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in ministry studies and later earned his Master’s of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Unzicker worked as a sports writer for the nationally ranked University of Georgia football team prior to his salvation and call to ministry. Unzicker has served in senior leadership positions in the local church and the Southern Baptist Convention, as well as a director of missions in Florida and a missionary in Central America. Prior to taking the new position with the North Carolina Baptist Convention, Unzicker held staff positions at The Summit Church in Raleigh-Durham including head of staff, pastor of sending, and campus pastor. During Unzicker’s time as pastor of sending, the Summit became the top missions-sending church in the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) and the top Cooperative Program contributing church in North Carolina.
A 2006 theology graduate of The Baptist College of Florida, Cook is the current Chairman of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina's Budget Special Committee, and the Senior Pastor of Apex Baptist Church in Apex, NC. Cook was nominated by Steven Wade, pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville, and ran unopposed for the position of board vice president. Cook has been in ministry for over 17 years sharing the gospel. He and his wife, Dayna, have three children. He was born in Gainesville, Florida, and raised in Newberry, Florida, a small farming community.
BCF Alumni Unzicker and Cook are passionate about serving the Lord in North Carolina. Friends and family at their alma mater will be cheering them on as they continue to make a difference in the lives of those around them.
