Meet Justin Mills, a Junior at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville. Mills is pursuing the Bachelor of Music in Worship Leadership degree. While attending BCF, Mills has represented the school with dignity and passion which made him the perfect feature student for the month of October.
Mills grew up in a military family so he traveled around to different parts of the world during his childhood. Constantly on the move, the Mills family settled around the Dothan, Ala., area where he spent the remainder of his teenage years. Mills started looking into BCF around the same time his father attended BCF in 2015. After two years at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Andalusia, Ala., Mills transferred to The Baptist College of Florida in Fall of 2018.
Mills is married to his extremely supportive wife Alyson of four years, and together they have two children, Haley and Asher. Mills and his family are currently living in New Brockton, Ala., having moved from on-campus married housing earlier this year. When asked if it was easier to commute or live on campus Mills said, "I loved the environment that living on campus produced for my family, but I also needed to venture out and see what else the Lord has in store for us."
While at BCF, Mills has participated in multiple BCM events such as the Bonfire held in the Fall, worked with the AV team on campus, and is involved in the BCF College Choir and audition ensembles, BCF College Singers and praise teams, and the BCF Music and Worship Division's worship band, "One Voice."
When asked about the student Job Opportunities on campus, Mills was quick to respond with, "I think that having jobs for students on campus is a great feature of BCF. I had the chance to be a grader for Professor Buford Cox, and it not only allowed me to grow in my ability in the music profession, but it also gave me a chance to study my theory work with the different activities that I was preforming."
Mills plans are to finish his degree at The Baptist College of Florida and become the full time Minister of Music at Bethany Baptist Church in New Brockton, Ala.
