It is always an exciting time in the life of an institution of higher education when new opportunities become available for expansion and growth. Such is the case with the recent Northeast Florida Distance Site launch of The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) at Fruit Cove Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla.

Heralding the registered trademark of “Changing the World Through the Unchanging Word" The Baptist College of Florida began offering classes at Fruit Cove to meet the growing need for easily accessible theological education and training in the area. "Whether you are in full-time Christian service or you are a Sunday School teacher, you need to know what the Word of God says so you can teach it without apology and now you have an opportunity to have some of the finest theological education and training right here at Fruit Cove," stated Glen Owens, BCF alumnus and Northeast Regional Catalyst for the Florida Baptist State Convention.

With picture perfect weather and great attendance, the BCF Jazz Band led worship followed by President Thomas A. Kinchen preaching during the two morning worship services on the day of the new site launch. The warm welcome extended by Fruit Cove Senior Pastor Tim Maynard, his staff, and members of the entire Fruit Cove Church family was overwhelming to representatives from BCF there to share information. "This is really exciting," stated Maynard, "because it gives us the opportunity to put theological education into a point of access for a lot of folks who may not get it otherwise."

The Jacksonville Site Director Jim Robinett will be teaching and managing the site which will include courses in the 23 degree programs offered on campus, online, and the three distance sites - Jacksonville, Panama City, and Orlando. Each degree program requires 18 semester hours in the Biblical/Theological Foundation area which provides a strong theological base for today's Christian leaders. BCF degree programs include areas of study in Music, Ministry, Contemporary Worship Ministry, Business Leadership, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Psychology as well as Missions, Missions with a Concentration in Aviation, Leadership and Christian Education, and Biblical Studies.

According to Kinchen, BCF is committed to training the next greatest generation of Christian leaders and having the Fruit Cove site is just another venue for reaching the world for Christ. "We have never had such great opportunities to impact the world. With greater technologies and new sites, our single purpose is to education and train those individuals whom God has called to serve Him in a multitude of venues and places around the world. The only question is whether you will join in this great adventure at this pivotal time in history."
