BCF Women’s Ensemble receive warm welcome at Bayshore High School in Bradenton, Florida.

The Women’s Ensemble at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville, directed by Professor Buford Cox and accompanied by Ms. Linda Vaughn, conducted their spring tour through Central Florida April 25-29.

The elite audition-only singers performed 10 times during their five-day tour, appearing in classrooms at Riverview High School, Sarasota; Bayshore High School, Bradenton; Hardee Senior High School, Wauchula; and Avon Park High School, Avon Park. The ensemble led chapel service for more than 300 students at Foundation Academy in Winter Garden, and sang in worship services at First Baptist Church, New Port Richey; First Baptist Church, Polk City; and First Baptist Church, Ocala.

BCF Sophomore Vastie Alexis stated that she hopes sharing in churches and schools will have a long-term impact on the lives of those who heard them perform. “We found out that some of the students that we encountered have no ambition of going to college,” Alexis said. “I hope that they saw the work God is doing in our lives and envision a better future for themselves.”

Freshman Brittany Agee said she enjoyed getting to sing in different settings. “We got to share the love of Jesus by singing in public and secular schools,” stated Agee. Several of the ladies commented that their favorite part of the Central Florida tour was the fellowship with each other, the spontaneous sing along of "Praise His Holy Name" with one of the high school classes, and staying in homes where the hosts were very encouraging and shared their testimony of how they use their homes to share the gospel.

According to Cox, the Women’s Ensemble was well-received at every event. Kurt McKinnon, Minister of Music at First Baptist Church of New Port Richey said, “It was good to have you with us. I have had many compliments on the group.” BCF Alumnus Joey Hufschmidt, Minister of Music at First Baptist Church of Polk City, stated, “My people truly enjoyed the concert.”
