BCF Professor Buford Cox prepares to lead the Women’s Ensemble, one of the prestigious music groups in the Music and Worship Division, during the 2015 Spring Concert.

Since 1997, The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) has been a member in good standing with the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), the premier accrediting agency for college and university music programs. The recent academic excellence review of BCF’s entire music program has extended the renewal of membership for ten more years following receipt of the official notification received on July 8 from the NASM Commission.

Continued membership means that NASM acknowledges and affirms that BCF maintains the highest standards in musical training for music-related professions. In the case of The Baptist College of Florida, that includes undergraduate and graduate degrees in worship leadership, music education, and music performance. According to Bill Davis, Chair of the BCF Music and Worship Division, this places BCF as one of very few institutions in the country with an NASM approved graduate degree in music and worship that is delivered within a hybrid environment (combination of classroom and distance learning).

“Throughout the history of The Baptist College of Florida, our Music and Worship program has filled a vital role,” stated BCF President Thomas A. Kinchen at the NASM notification. “Our students and alumni have served and continue to serve with distinction. I am absolutely delighted that we provide and maintain a music program that is excellent in content and relevant in application.”

NASM membership and approval gives added confidence to prospective BCF students that they will receive a nationally recognized music education. It also assures employers that a BCF graduate has earned a degree from a top quality music program. For more information on the music degrees available through The Baptist College of Florida, access the website at www.baptistcollege.edu or call the admissions office at 800-328-2660 ext. 460.
