BCF Alumnus Gary Martin receives the WJHG News Channel 7 Golden Apple Award.

From pulpits, foreign mission fields, to the classroom, The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) alumni continue to make a huge difference as evident by the recent award presented to 1986 BCF Graduate Gary Martin, husband of Jan Martin, the administrative assistant to the vice president at BCF. Martin received the prestigious WJHG News Channel 7 Golden Apple Award recognizing local teachers for their professionalism and educational excellence.

Currently a teacher at Cottondale High School, Martin is positively impacting the lives of students in his classes. Honored and humbled by the award recognition, Martin recalls how the Lord brought him to where he is now after the stock market crashed in 2008. He was working at that time in construction which took a nose dive. Martin stated that he remembered and claimed the verse found in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you,... plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Martin admitted that, “We did not know what God had in store for us. We just took the first step by faith and by faith, continued to make ourselves available to Him.” Martin hopes to encourage students and many others that may find themselves in the same situation to take the first step of faith to see what God has in store.
