BCF students compete on the conference bike.

For the past two years, students at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville have assembled together during the fall semester to compete in what is called the “BCF Olympics.” This year, the third annual Olympic event will be held on September 10, at 5:30 p.m. (CST).

BCF students will combine together to form teams which will include both a guy dorm and ladies dorm, as well as an off-campus team. The teams pair up by dorms in order to build unity as they work together to achieve a common goal.

This year, as in years past, there will be a large variety of events for students to demonstrate their competitive spirit. There are seven different athletic challenges in this year’s version of the BCF Olympics. The events include classic favorites such as the plank race, tug-of-war, sack race, water bucket relay, hula hoop pass, and egg toss. In addition to these, the final competitive activity for the day will be the grueling BCF Triathlon. The triathlon will test the teams in three categories. First, students will race on the conference bike which is a large, red, pedal-propelled vehicle that contains seven people facing the center pedalling, while one person steers. The second leg of the triathlon will involve a boat race, of sorts, on Lake Albert, with the final contest consisting of leapfrog.

The competing teams will be awarded points based on their performance in each event in order to determine the overall winner. The third annual BCF Olympics is a highly anticipated time of fellowship, as teams come together and strategize their winning course of action.
