BCF Senior Calvin Booth will be performing during the Honors Recital scheduled on October 22, at 7:00 p.m.

On October 22, at 7:00 p.m. (CST) the Music and Worship Division of The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville will host an Honors Recital in the R.G. Lee Chapel. The Honors Recital is designed to showcase upper-level Music and Worship Division students as they perform difficult and complex pieces of music. According to the Music and Worship Division Chair Bill Davis, the recital will feature those students who continue to set the bar for future BCF musicians. All of the performers are current students who exemplify diligence and excellence within their area of expertise.

Featured recital vocalists include BCF students Calvin Booth, Austin Brinkley, Thomas Brown, Hunter Eubanks, Ashton Rickman, Skylar Teel, and Jessie Wiggins. The students will be performing selections of varying genres and styles. In addition to the vocalists, the Honors Recital will include instrumental pieces by Matthew Bryan performing Jacques Ibert’s “Aria” on the saxophone, Lauren Walls performing Georg Philipp Telemann’s “Allegro from Sonata in C minor” on the clarinet, Mark Hafner performing Thomas Brown’s “Fanfare for Timpani” on percussion, and Joey Shivers performing Justin Hollad’s “Variations on ‘Dixie Land’” on the guitar.

The Guitar Ensemble made up of BCF students Eric Worthington, Dustin Meadows and Kevin Greene, as well as Assistant Guitar Professor Jonathan Erp will perform “Farewell to Stromness” composed by Peter Maxwell Davies. Lea Scott, Administrative Assistant to the Academic Dean, will be performing “Invention #1 C” by J.S. Bach. The Honors Recital is one of those special BCF events where faculty, students and staff celebrate and support the unique talents of the Music and Worship Division.

The Honors Recital is free and open to the public. For more information on upcoming events or The Baptist College of Florida, call 800.328.2660 ext. 460 or visit the website at www.baptistcollege.edu.
