BCF Professor Michael Burns, joined by his wife Nancy, was presented with a plaque from BCF President Thomas A. Kinchen.

A warm sunny day greeted the overflow crowd gathered to recognize the Spring 2013 graduates at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville on May 17, 2013. Representing fifteen different degree fields, fifty-six excited and eager graduates prepared and equipped to "Change the World..." received their diplomas.

Students filed in the renovated Wellness Center followed by faculty members as the BCF College Winds, under the direction of Professor Ron Branning, played the traditional processional "Pomp and Circumstance." BCF Professor and Acting Teacher Education Division Chair Susan Wegmann provided the invocation and Music and Worship Division Chair Bill Davis led those assembled in the ageless hymn "Great is Thy Faithfulness."

BCF President Thomas A. Kinchen recognized family members of the graduating class and welcomed guests and visitors. Having announced his retirement, BCF Professor Michael Burns, joined by his wife Nancy, was presented with a plaque and previously with a gift thanking him for 34 years of faithful service to the college. New counseling Professor Kristy Ford joined Kinchen at the podium to sign the Articles of Faith pledging to uphold the Christian doctrines and standards of The Baptist College of Florida.

The BCF Male Chorale provided the special music selection titled "O Church, Arise" followed by a passionate graduation message by the president. During the graduation address, Kinchen regarded this moment in the lives of graduates as a historic transition where they would now be faced with new responsibilities, challenges, and opportunities. He reminded students that life is full of transitions and with these transitions comes uncertainty and sometimes adversity, but tremendous opportunities for companionship with people willing to come along side and help you through the transition. "In the dark of the night... you may find yourself asking, 'Who has my back?' The Alpha and Omega said, 'Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the age.' Who's got your back? Our Lord has your back," proclaimed Kinchen.

Following the recommendation by the senior vice president, registrar, and approval by the faculty, Kinchen conferred degrees on the graduating class and instructed them to move their tassel to the left side. Rev. Kenric Conway, Vice Chair of the BCF Trustees, led the benediction.
