BCF education majors gathered in the Mill’s Center for the inaugural Education Symposium held at The Baptist College of Florida.

The Teacher Education Division of The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville, Fla., recently hosted an inaugural Education Symposium featuring Kevin Smith the Research Alliance Manager at the Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Southeast at Florida State University. Smith articulated the Transitions in Literacy Instruction for Elementary ELA Common Core State Standards Implementation which provided BCF education majors and area educators with a wealth of information on the standards and concepts for helping students.

About 20 door prizes were given away, and the new motto for the Teacher Education Division was revealed-- “Opening Minds, Touching Hearts, Shaping Futures.” Plans are already underway for the next Education Symposium to be held during the spring semester. Survey results indicated that participants greatly benefited from the symposium and look forward to the next event.

In addition to hosting the instructive Education Symposium, the Teacher Education Division recently held an open house in the Curriculum Lab for all of the BCF faculty, students, and staff. Guests were treated to homemade chili, hot apple cider, and desserts.
