Gifted speaker, evangelist, author, and missionary Wade Akins meets with BCF students on Tuesday evening during the 2012 Missions Conference to share his heart for missions.

The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville welcomed well known author and missionary Wade Akins for the annual 2012 Missions Conference held October 22-24.
For three captivating days, Akins shared his passion and heart for missions recounting story after story of sharing his faith in those secretive, dark places around the world.

In addition to being an extraordinarily gifted speaker, author, evangelist, and pastor, Akins shared from his 26 years of experience with the International Mission Board (IMB) of the Southern Baptist Convention serving in Vietnam and Brazil. He has served as a Global Church Planting Trainer, teaching in 65 different nations, and works with Pioneer Missions based in Jackson, Tennessee. Akins is committed to training the next generation about missions and sharing the gospel.

During the much anticipated conference, hearts of students were stirred to become active in missions whether short-term or long-term. Akins challenged students to focus on God's vision and mission and explained what it means to truly die to oneself, pick up one's cross, and follow Christ. "Start at home, and from there, God will open doors," he exclaimed to students. Akins spent time teaching students about Islam and how to reach Muslims with the good news of Jesus Christ. "Every religion says you must do something good to earn your salvation except Christianity," he stated, reflecting on the uniqueness of being a Christian.

Along with the inspirational worship services each day, BCF Missions Professor Rich Elligson invited mission agencies to display their programs and mission opportunities and interact with students, sharing their goals, and scheduling them to speak in classes taught on the campus. BCF students were able to examine all of the different types of missions to see if God would have them consider missions as their area of ministry or vocation.

The BCF call and commitment is to "Change the World Through the Unchanging Word.®" Events such as the Missions Conference and IMB's Embrace enables students to see what God is doing in the world around them, and invites them to pray about how they can get involved.
