Tuesday nights at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville have gotten a little more exciting this semester thanks to Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM) Director Brianne Eure and her leadership team. Eure introduced a new format called Connection Seven-Twenty-Four (724) to BCF students beginning with the spring 2010 semester.

"We thought it was time to develop a way to feed God's sheep during BCM a little more. Connection 724 provides more discipleship in a unique setting; it is more of a teaching than a preaching environment," said Eure.

According to Eure, the new format is based on Matthew 7:24 which says, "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock." The BCM leadership team decided to coordinate the special precept meetings every first and third Tuesday night of the month.

"The topics addressed at Connection 724 contain rock-solid, wisdom-filled principles that all students need as they build on their Christian foundation and develop into mature adults and courageous carriers of God's truth," stated Eure.

The first two sessions featured Roger and Sandra Richards covering time management issues and Kristi Ford on dating and marriage. Topics were chosen from a student survey taken during the fall semester and covering ideas relevant for today and future areas of ministry.

Once the speakers conclude, attendees are given the opportunity to collaborate in small groups about the topic of the night with discussion questions in their "connect groups."
The groups serve two main purposes: implement the truths learned during the event and cultivate a community of growth.

Upcoming speakers include Mike Orr, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Chipley, Rich Elligson, BCF Assistant Professor of Missions, and BCF Resident Director for Napier Hall Lauren Clement. Respectively, they will discuss topics on handling conflict God's way, discerning God's will, and passionless orthodoxy. The final session of the semester will be a discussion on finances and stewardship.
