BCF CELEBRATION OF WORSHIP FEATURING OSWALT, SULLIVAN, AND THE MUSIC AND WORSHIP DIVISION
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 22, 2010
A celebration of worship is scheduled in the R. G. Lee Chapel at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) to begin the month of March. The first day will feature Vice President of Academic Affairs Emeritus Jerry Oswalt in the pulpit Monday, March 1 at 10 a.m.
Oswalt holds degrees from Mississippi State University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where he also served as director of missions and professor of preaching. He currently pastors Damascus Baptist Church in Graceville, Fla.
Tuesday's celebration message will be delivered by BCF favorite Executive Director-Treasurer of the Florida Baptist Convention John Sullivan. Sullivan has served the Convention since 1989, and during his tenure established three priorities to which all activities have been directed: evangelism, starting new churches and developing existing churches. Not only is Sullivan a favorite preacher at BCF but he has proclaimed the Gospel message during evangelism conferences, state and national conventions, and in churches all across the United States.
Sullivan holds degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Grand Canyon Baptist College. He completed additional work at North Texas State University, served as an adjunct professor for the Shreveport Center of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and was designated a Certified Parliamentarian by the National Association of Parliament in 1997.
On Wednesday, March 3 at 10 a.m., there will be a special music program coordinated by BCF Music and Worship Division Chair Don Odom. The praise service not only includes the BCF ensembles, praise team, and choir, but also allows for a time of congregational participation. "The goal for this worship experience is the goal for all worship experiences, to honor the Lord with an offering of praise," stated Odom on preparing for the service. "We try to express that we acknowledge God's presence, we confess our humility to God, we exalt Him with praise, we seek illumination for His will in our lives, and we dedicate ourselves to live a life that expresses the love of Christ."
All chapel services are free and open to the public. For more information, or to download the full chapel schedule, visit www.baptistcollege.edu.
