BCF FACEBOOK PAGE PASSES 1,000 FANS

The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville's newest Internet presence has just hit a major milestone.
BCF's page on Facebook, the world's most popular social network site and the second most visited website on the Internet (only behind Google), has just passed the mark of 1,000 "fans." Launched April 5 for the purpose of increased visibility and connecting with people, the page was able to accumulate 1,000 "fans" in less than two months. The exciting part for the BCF Marketing Office is that each "fan" represents a Facebook member who opts to receive news and information about the college, as well as have an endorsement of the school on their own profile page.
"This is exciting because it shows what our college has believed all along: that our students are our best advertisement," said BCF Lead Graphic and Web Designer Matthew LeHew, a BCF alumnus and staff member who designed the page. "As our students proudly display the fact that they're a fan of BCF on their Facebook profile, it's shown to their friends, who just happen to be our target demographic. It's a digital form of word-of-mouth marketing that works wonders." LeHew also noted that a large portion of the BCF "fans" were alumni and prospective students.
The 1,000 fan mark is an important one for many Facebook fan pages. A recent study by Sysomos, a social media monitoring and analytics platform, showed that 77 percent of Facebook fan pages have fewer than 1,000 members, placing BCF in the top 23 percent.
BCF was recognized last year for its excellent web presence. The college website, located at baptistcollege.edu, received an "A" rating by the National Research Center for College and University Admissions, placing it in the top 3 percent of college websites worldwide.
