TOMMY GREEN PRECHES IN CHAPEL
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 12, 2008
Tommy Green, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Brandon, FL, preached three powerful and encouraging sermons during Chapel services at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville.
The senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Brandon, FL, Tommy Green, preached three powerful and encouraging sermons during chapel services held at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville, September 8-10.
Green opened the week with a sermon from Acts 1:8, motivating students and faculty by stating, "It's our time, it's our opportunity, and it's our responsibility. Go and tell!" Green elaborated on how today's Christian tries to be relevant in every way to the world, and sometimes fail to see that they are "the anointed, adorned, and appointed of the Lord."
"Who is my neighbor?" was the lingering question throughout Green's sermon on Tuesday. Highlighting the account of the Good Samaritan, he pinpointed what defeats people day in and day out - the world and the adversary. "Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy, and the world is constantly beating you down," stated Green. "We cannot ignore the needs of others..."
Concluding the week of messages, Green asked the question, "What type of church do you want to serve?" Using Luke 14:7-11, Green demonstrated how leaders in the church should act. He used illustrations from his own life as a pastor and told how God convicted him personally about reaching outside the walls of the church to share the love of Christ with people in the community. Green closed his sermon by stating, "Love God, love your neighbor, and God will build His church daily."
"Tommy Green is a powerful preacher," stated BCF junior Danielle Miller. "The first day God really used him to point out some things in my life. He challenged me to reach out more around the Graceville and Dothan area."
Green is just one of the strong men of God scheduled to preach in the R. G. Lee Chapel this semester. The public is invited to join the BCF faculty, staff, and students every Monday through Wednesday for chapel.
