As the rain clouds lingered over The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) campus, prospective students, their parents, faculty, staff, and current students gathered in the R. G. Lee Chapel for Fall Preview Day. The day started with registration in the chapel and a student led worship service and greeting from Thomas A. Kinchen, BCF President. After a time of worship, guests made their way outside where the rain began to pour.

Once outside, everyone grabbed tables, chairs, posters, and balloons to move Preview Day activities inside. "I watched in utter joy as our faculty, staff, and our kids, our amazing BCF students, within minutes, moved a complete day of events from outside into the gym," stated Sandra Richards, Director of Marketing.

Quickly making their way to the gym, several BCF professors and students gave up their umbrellas so that campus visitors could get to the gym where the exhibit booths were relocated. The rain began to slack off and guests were given a tour of the dorms and treated to lunch, hot off the grill, provided by Lake Vista Dining. During lunchtime, prospective students were able to talk with faculty members seated around the room and enjoy the musical talent of the BCF Jazz Band. Students were also invited to attend classes that were in session and meet with financial advisors.

This semester's Preview Day extended farther than the Florida, Alabama, and Georgia prospective students. Kristen LeFabre, cousin of BCF freshman Hannah Pruitt, was encouraged to come for Preview Day through Pruitt’s constant conversation about the college. "I learned about the college from my cousin and the more she talked about it, the more I was interested," stated LeFabre. "I was given a warm welcome, which was huge for me. It just continued to get better with each activity. My favorite part of Preview Day was the choir and opening worship." LeFabre is from Denver, Colorado and plans on attending BCF in the Fall of 2009. She wants to major in Elementary Education.

The day concluded with remarks from Brianne Eure, Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM) Director, along with a skit by the Drama Team. Three $500 scholarships were awarded to prospective students James Jackson from Cuthbert, GA, Cody Cobb from Hartford, AL and Lanna Watson from Cuthbert, GA. The Admissions Office waived the application fee for all of the students who applied on Preview Day.

"We prayed for sunshine, and yet the Lord clearly wanted to show our guests what teamwork and servant-hearts our students truly have. It was a testimony to the caliber of students, faculty and staff that we have at BCF," stated Richards. She continued to say, "There were no complaints; there were simply multitudes of people saying, 'Can I help? What can I do?' What looked to me like a mess in the making, visibly gave a perspective of BCF that I couldn't capture -- our students were there to serve, minister, help, literally do whatever it took! You just can't plan those God things!"

The Baptist College of Florida continues to educate and prepare men and women for areas of service in ministry, counseling, missions, leadership, music, Christian education, media and education. Over 150 people attended the Preview Day event.
