FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 25, 2008
Ms. Bobbie Kern Dotson, a 2000 education graduate of The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville, Fl., and second grade teacher at Riversink Elementary School in Crawfordville, Fl., recently earned her National Board Certification.
The National Board Certification is the most widely used teacher assessment tool utilized in the United States and consists of four portfolio entries and six subject areas. Candidates for the certification must meet the highest of standards in addition to evaluation of general knowledge in teaching methods, learning skills, and specialty areas, such as mathematics, early childhood, etc. According to the National Board for Professional Teachers website, "The National Board Certification signifies that a teacher or school counselor is accomplished, having met challenging professional standards as evidenced by performance-based assessments."
In addition to Elementary Education, BCF offers degrees in Christian Education and Secondary Education (English, History and Social Studies). The mission goal is "Changing the World Through the Unchanging Word®" by preparing men and women for areas of service within the classroom, church, concert stage, mission field, and executive boardroom.
