BCF PARTICIPATES IN CAREGIVER KIT MINISTRY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 27, 2008
BCM Director, Brianne Eure, and BCF senior Matt LeHew unpack supplies to be assembled and mailed for the Caregiver Kit Ministry.
David Coggins, Assistant Professor of Leadership and Director of Distance Learning, and Brianne Eure, Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM) Director at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville, have discovered a new venue of ministry for students and faculty. Through World Vision's Caregiver Kit Ministry, participants collect money, assemble caregiver kits, and send them to fight the AIDS pandemic in Africa, Asia and South America.
According to World Vision, AIDS is one of the greatest humanitarian tragedies of this age. Killing more than three million people per year, AIDS has left millions of children throughout Africa and other countries without parents. With the kits, caregivers in Africa, Asia and South America are provided with basic medical supplies to assist in treating AIDS. The Caregiver Kit Ministry is a practical and beneficial way to share the love of Christ and comfort those in need.
"This is an awesome opportunity for BCF to get involved in missions across the world while remaining here at home," stated Eure. "BCF's goal is to 'Change the World Through the Unchanging Word®' and BCM is taking this motto and applying it to our community in Graceville as well as extending it to the further most parts of the world. There are over 40 million people in the world infected with HIV and what are we doing about it? World Vision has provided us with a way to help reach those in need by sending medical supplies to the caregivers already stationed in highly infected areas. You do not always have to physically be present to share the hope of Jesus with the sick, and that is what we are doing through these Caregiver Kits."
A total of fifty caregiver kits were assembled by the faculty, students and staff on October 25 which will be mailed. For more information on World Vision's Caregiver Kit Ministry contact Brianne Eure at 800.328.2660 ext. 409.
