BCF PRAYS FOR WORLD MISSIONS

Lauren Parnell, Missions Coordinator at The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville, is challenging students and faculty to set aside a time daily to pray earnestly for missions. With the recent completion of the Prayer Chapel on campus, Parnell spent time every day during the summer praying through the list of BCF summer missionaries who traveled around the world. Parnell, with the assistance of her Missions' Prayer Intern, Heather Carter, developed a prayer list following the Acts 1:8 model, "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." The prayer list includes a week of prayer for local missions, state missions, national missions, international missions, and ending with several days of prayer for upcoming BCF mission trips.

"God convicted my heart over the past several months that BCF students were doing great things by going and serving, but one area of ministry where we needed growth was in the area of prayer for missions," stated Parnell. "Amy Carmichael, missionary to Japan in the 1890's, said this to her family and friends concerning prayer, ''Don't let a moment slip. More may hang upon your instant yielding than you know or shall know til the great Then comes.' It's my desire that everyone at BCF will utilize tools like our Prayer Chapel and this missions prayer calendar to intercede on behalf of missionaries and the lost of the nations. May we never be guilty of letting 'a moment slip.' "
